Activities & Days Out
The Argeles Valley is a wonderful base to explore from, not only our own valley but the neighbouring area as well. Here is just a sample of the things you can do.
- Mountain Walks
Whether it is meandering through the foothills or a more energetic day further up the slopes, you are not far away from discovering what is special about the Pyrenees.
(Pyrenees National Park)
- Local Markets
The market is a French tradition which has to be experienced. Every reasonably sized town has one and that includes our local Argelès Gazost on a Tuesday. This market dates back nearly 200 years. We provide a full list in the house of all local markets.
- Tour de France
Join other enthusiastic cyclists visiting the area to run their own "Tour de France". The famous road race regularly visits the area for its arduous mountain stages. Read more...
- Adventure Sports & Activities
- Relax at a Spa
(Argelès Gazost, Barèges, Cauterets, Beaucens)
- Visit Cauterets
More than just a ski resort
- Enjoy a glass of wine! (Local Wine)
- Go wild at the Animal Park (see below)

Find out in the park beautifully integrated into the valley of Lavedan, wildlife in the Pyrenees.
The animal park in the Pyrenees is also nicknamed the hill to the marmots. Marmots are the stars and sometimes come in contact for photos…
Attend the dinner of otters, fishing bears and discover the large mammals in the chain (chamois, sheep, goats, deer, wolves and lynxs) in their natural environment.
The Museum of Natural History offers a world tour of the exceptionally large wildlife.
There, on nearly five acres, you will learn everything about the diversity of the flora and fauna of the Hautes-Pyrenees: marmots, chamois, mountain goats, bears of the Pyrenees, squirrels, vultures, eagles and gypaètes.
